Acacia Hotel Davao is the newest hotel to open in Davao City. As they have an introductory promo, we booked a deluxe room for an overnight stay. Let me share our ‘Simply Heartfelt’ experience in this hotel.
LOCATION & CHECK-IN
The newly built hotel is located along J.P. Laurel Avenue, Lanang, Davao City. As we are walk-in guests, we are lucky that there is an available room under the introductory promo. The lobby feels luxurious with a large chandelier placed above a grand staircase. Guests can wait around the spacious lobby and get drinks from their in-house bar. We mistakenly thought the bar was their front desk!
The electronic signature software during the check-in process experienced a bit of a lag. So, you need to wait for the system to move before you proceed with check-in. But, it is great that businesses are starting to embrace digital solutions.
The incidental deposit fee is Php 2,000 (40 USD). You can pay in cash or hold your card. Just present the receipt upon check-out to claim a refund.
Overall, our check-in experience was good.
The room we chose was on the 11th floor so we can see the view of the city. However, in the time of writing other rooms are still in construction.
We have a love-hate relationship with our room. The room was spacious, yet, we did not feel homey. The orange chair needs help to change the mood of the room. I love the center table but the sofa was a bit uncomfortable. Preferred the seats in the lobby.
Complimentary water is available which you can use for tea or coffee. A water heater is available but there is no mini-bar. We did not ask if we could have one, but having an option for guests would be nice.
The bathroom was provided with towels, toiletries, and 1 bathrobe. But, we felt that a 15ml plastic tube is not enough for two guests. Iron and ironing board are also available, perfect for business travelers who need one.
A security box to store your valuable items is available. The emergency flashlight is available but not working.
IN-ROOM MENU and RESTAURANT
As we lounge into the comfortable pillows and bed, we decided to order food. But the in-house menu was not available which takes them 20 minutes to deliver. Food is available for 24 hours, and the waiting time is about 20-30 minutes. You can pay cash or charge to the room for the ordered food.
We ordered the chef recommended Acacia Pizza and it tasted good. They just need to watch for those burned crusts as it does not compliment the flavors. We did not bother to requests cutlery and spices for the pizza as it could take time again. I hope they could anticipate guests’ needs to create a better experience.
HOTEL AMENITIES & RESTAURANT
The introductory promo room comes with 2 breakfast buffets from Waling-Waling Cafe. The pastel-colored chairs gave us positive vibes in the morning. The buffet area was arranged beneath gold leaves accentuated with lights.
Their buffet has a lot of choices from people who take heavy breakfast to cereals that kids can enjoy. Their bread partnered with different jams, the egg station, and the dried fruits and nuts are what I enjoyed the most. Though am longing for some bacon, unfortunately, you need to settle with the danggit.
The overall stay at Acacia Hotels Davao is far from perfect but it was enjoyable. Amenities such as the pool and gym were not yet available. At the time of writing, their published rate is at Php 5,400 (105 USD) after the introductory offer. However, we still did not feel that the rate equates to the experience. As our stay happened two weeks after their launch, we believed they are still brushing up their operations.
